Skydreamer Dines in Cebu: Gelatissimo

The rainy season is already here, but that doesn't mean there aren't bursts of sunshiny days in between the dreary cold and wet season. And when the sun is up, what better way to cool down than with ice cream, a gelato no less. Made with only natural and fresh ingredients, Gelatissimo, an Australian ice cream shop, is definitely the place to cool ourselves down.

They have different flavors to choose from, and they vary everyday depending on the ingredients they have on hand.

We went there on a hot Saturday to take advantage of Ayala's "buy 1 take 1" promo. What it basically means is that you get to buy one scoop of flavor, and you get another scoop for free. Sweet!

L-R: Macadamia and Caramel, Creme Caramel, Tiramisu, Pistachio

I loved all four flavors. Obviously I didn't eat all four by myself. I wish I could, though. My favorite among all four is their tiramisu - no surprise here because I am in love with coffee based anything.

They have branches in Ayala Terraces, SM Northwing and SM City Cebu (near Goldilocks)

Skydreamer Dines in Cebu: La Tegola in Ayala Center Cebu

One Saturday night, we decided to check out that "li'l Italian below Starbucks." And so we went to La Tegola Cucina Italiana, albeit the many bad customer service feedback.

When we got there, I immediately felt at home. The furnishings, the ambience, the staff and the aroma of the dishes being cooked in the kitchen made the place warm and cozy. Add to that the friendly and attentive staff including the manager. Yes, I've heard too much bad rap about this place - slow and bad service, overpriced but tasteless menu - but everything was just the opposite when we went there!

First off, they gave us complimentary tomatoes with olive oil in focaccia. It was admittedly tasteless, but everything else was great - their aglio olio had the right amount of oil that made it non-greasy; their lasagna tasted of rich tomatoes; their pizza was simple but flavorful and their vesuvio used a great brand of mozzarella cheese and good quality black pitted olives.

To some people, La Tegola may be too expensive; for others, it's just fitting given the quality of food; for a few people, it's pocket change. A cheap and quick no frills Italian go-to. For me? It's just right, but that doesn't mean I'll be going back anytime soon. Yes, the price may be right but I can't afford to dine there every weekend. But if you have the moolah, I'd say do check them out.

Play Review: Young Thespians of Cebu's Sister Act, The Musicale!

Earlier, I watched Sister Act, The Musicale, - at Onstage, ACC - a play directed by Emmanuelle Jones Mante. I know him because we work in the same company together with Michael Sta. Maria (production manager) and Albert Eric Oroquieza (Leading Man).

The show was great although it needs a little more polishing. I only watched the matinee show because I couldn't afford the price of the gala tickets.

For now, I can't post pictures because I don't have time to upload my 5 or so pics haha!
